1. What is Windows?
Ans. Windows is a GUI based operating system developed by
Microsoft Corporation. It is a very popular system software which provide a
user-friendly interface that is very convenient to use.
2. Explain the Aero Snap Feature of Windows.
Ans. Aero snap feature of windows
enables the user to resize and expand Windows more quickly. It also allows to
compare the contents of two different windows.
3. What are icons?
Ans. Icons are small graphical
images on the desktop that represent various application programs, files and
folders.
4. Explain the purpose of the taskbar.
Ans. Taskbar is the long horizontal bar that is
usually located at the bottom of the desktop screen. It houses many buttons for
many programs such as start button, Task View, Notification area and pinned
programs.
5. What does moving a file or folder
means?
Ans. Moving a file or folder means to cut and paste or drag
the file or folder from its original location to some other location.

1. Discuss any five features of Windows.
Ans. The following are the five features of Windows.
a. Aero Shake feature: Windows supports
Aero Shake feature that enables us to click a window pane and shake our mouse
to minimize all open windows. We can shake the pane again to restore the
windows to their original sizes.
b. Aero Theme: This feature allows us to
use new themes or choose a slideshow of our favourite photographs to make our
computer reflect our personal taste.
c. Jump Lists: The Jump lists feature
allows us to quickly access our favourite, recent and frequently used files.
d. Aero Snap: This feature enables us to
resize and expand Windows more quickly.
e. Aero Peek: This feature makes all the
open windows transparent, so that we can see the desktop.
2. Discuss different types of tabs
available in Windows.
Ans. The following tabs available in windows
File: It contains the options to work with files such as creating a new
file, saving a new file, opening a file, printing a file and import/export
options.
Home: it includes options such
as cut, copy and paste as well other important editing icons. It sometimes
contain specific options for the programs we are working on.
View: it contains options that change the view of items and also include
some toolbar options. Sometimes, we are unable to view some tools such as
ruler, navigation pane etc. They can be activated from the view menu.
Insert: it contains the different insert features such as tables,
pictures, clipart, WordArt, shapes and much more.
3. Write the steps to copy a file or
folder.
Ans. The following are the steps to copy
a file or folder.

Select
the File or the folder by left-clicking on it.

Now
right-click on the file or folder

A
context Menu appears à select the “copy” option from the
context menu.

Alternatively
we can use the combination of Ctrl +C keys on the keyboard.
4. What are the various control buttons?
Discuss.
Ans. The following are the various control buttons.
The close (X) button closes an already open window and thus
allows us to exit the program.
The Maximize (□) button maximizes the program,
making it full screen. If it is already maximized, it looks like a box ion the
top of another box, IF we click on in in that state, it will return to the
window to its previous size.
The Minimize (–) button: This button reduces the
current window to a taskbar button. Clicking on the button on the taskbar
restore the window to its former state.
