Ans. The keyboard that can easily be rolled up is called flexible or roll-up keyboard.

4. Which type of mouse uses optical light to move the mouse pointer?

Ans. Optical mouse uses optical light to move the mouse pointer.

5. What is the use of a transparency scanner?

Ans. The transparency scanner catches the images from rolled-up transparencies that can be edited and stored in the computer.

6. What is the use of a barcode reader?

Ans. Barcode reader is used to read the barcode labelled on the book or other items. It decodes the information coded by the barcode.

1. Describe the process unit, and memory and storage unit of a computer system.

Ans. Process Unit: CPU is a process unit. Having received data form the input devices and instructions from the memory units, it process it and send the result of the process data to the output devices.

Memory Unit: Memory units hold the required instructions in the form of software that help the processor to process the data.

Storage Device: Storage devices are used to store the data in the computer.

2. How does a light pen work?

Ans. Light pen is pen like device that is used to point the objects on the screen. It can also be used select menu and draw picture. Light pen works by using a light-sensitive sensor at its tip to detect the brief moment an electron beam from a CRT (cathode ray tube) passes across the screen, causing the screen to emit light. The pen's sensor detects this light flash and sends a signal to the computer, which records the timing of the event. By knowing the computer's internal clock and the pattern of the electron beam's scan, the system can precisely calculate the exact location on the screen where the light pen is pointing.

 

3. State the difference between the OCR and OMR.

Ans. OCR device is used to read printed characters by scanning text optically. It reads the character by character and converts the text into a machine readable code and store it on the system memory. OMR, on the other hand, recognizes the type of marks made by a pen on a pencil. It is mainly used for checking the answer sheets of examinations questions.

4. State the difference between the impact printer the non-impact printer.

Ans. The impact printer prints characters by striking printing head on to the paper and prints character-by-character. Whereas, the non-impact printer print the character without striking or touching the paper. It produce high quality of output without noise.

5. What is a Blu-ray disc? Describe its storage functionality in detail.

Ans. Ans. Blu-ray disc is an optical storage disc to store data. It is used to record, rewrite and play back high-definition video (HD) as well as storing other format of data. Blue-violet laser light is used to write data on it. It can store maximum data of 50 GB on a dual layer disc.
